Shape Characteristics
Polygon: A closed figure with straight sides. Triangles, squares, and hexagons are all polygons.
Regular Polygon: All sides and angles are equal. Square, equilateral triangle, and regular hexagon are examples.
Quadrilateral: Four-sided polygon. Includes squares, rectangles, parallelograms, and trapezoids.
Key Concepts
Area: The amount of space inside a shape, measured in square units.
Perimeter: The distance around the outside of a shape, measured in linear units.
Vertex: A point where two or more sides meet (corner).
Side: A line segment that forms part of the boundary of a shape.
