Introduction
A variable is a symbol (usually a letter like x, y, or z) that represents an unknown or changeable value. Variables allow us to write general rules and formulas that work for many different numbers.
Key Concepts:
- Variable: A symbol that can take different values (e.g., x, y, z)
- Expression: A mathematical phrase containing variables, numbers, and operations
- Evaluation: Substituting a value for the variable and calculating the result
- Visualization: See how changing the variable value affects the expression result
How to Use
- Select an expression type or create a custom expression
- Use the slider to change the value of x (the variable)
- Watch how the result changes as you change x
- View the graph to see how the expression behaves across different x values
- Check the value table to see multiple input-output pairs
- For custom expressions, use 'x' as the variable and 'x²' or 'x^2' for squared terms

Current Evaluation
(3) + 5 = 8.00
When x = 3, the expression evaluates to 8.00
Graph: y = x + 5
Value Table: y = x + 5
